Luanda recebe cimeira da Organização dos Estados de África, Caraíbas e Pacífico

Luanda is starting work today to prepare for the 10th Summit of Heads of State and Government of the Organization of African, Caribbean and Pacific States (OACP), which includes 79 member countries and whose presidency will be held by Angola.

According to Lusa, the programme will be presented by Angolan Foreign Minister Téte Antonio, coordinator of the working group set up by Angolan President João Lourenço to prepare, coordinate and organize tasks related to Angola's responsibilities at the event.

The meeting includes exhibitions, forums and pre-summit events that precede the summit itself, which starts on Friday and ends on Saturday.

"Three Continents, Three Oceans, a Common Destiny: Building a Resilient and Sustainable Organization of African, Caribbean and Pacific States" is the motto of this meeting, in which Angola will assume the presidency of the organization for a period of three years.

At least 79 member states from the three continents are expected to take part in this summit, which will be the first to be held since the ACP Group was transformed into an international organization.

Angolan ambassador Georges Rebelo Chikoti is the current secretary-general of the Organization of African, Caribbean and Pacific States.

João Lourenço, in his State of the Nation address on 15 October, highlighted the importance of the country hosting the 10th OEACP Summit, considering the event to be of "high importance" as Angola holds the rotating presidency of the organization.

This presidency will put the country "in the international spotlight", said the President, asking for "a collective commitment" and the "collaboration of the most varied strata of society" so that this international event is "a celebration for all".
