A delegation from the Tanzania People's Defense Forces (TPDF) was forced to abandon their vehicles after being ambushed by insurgents in Nangade, Cabo Delgado province.
The military entourage was intercepted moments after leaving the headquarters on their way north from Nangade "probably to the TPDF base in Mandimba, south of the border with Tanzania" last week (November 15), the English-language portal reports, Zitamar.
The insurgents attacked the military convoy with "rocket-propelled grenades", which forced the Tanzanian forces to surrender.
Islamic State claimed responsibility, according to the publication, revealing that it had captured three vehicles, weapons and ammunition.
"IS social media channels published images of the aftermath of the ambush with two trucks on fire," writes the portal, without mentioning any human damage resulting from the ambush.
