The prime minister called on families living in areas susceptible to extreme events, such as floods, to settle permanently in safe places, so as not to risk losing their lives.
Adriano Maleiane issued the exhortation at the end of a working visit to the resettlement district of Ndeja, in Nhamatanda district, Sofala province, which is hosting victims of tropical cyclone Idai, which in March 2019 destroyed public and private infrastructure, including habilitation.
In a brief contact with the unfortunate people, Maleiane considered the conditions in the place to be better, arguing, therefore, that those residents should not return to the risk areas.
"They made a good decision by settling in the resettlement neighborhoods. Here, in Ndeja, our partner is building type-1 and type-2 houses and I noticed huge happiness on the faces of the beneficiaries," he said.
