The US government today guaranteed continued support for Mozambique in development programs and humanitarian assistance for victims of terrorism in Cabo Delgado, according to the US Senate Senior Advisors.
The two Councilors gave these assurances to the President of the Parliamentary Committee for International Relations, Cooperation and Communities, Catarina Dimande.
At the end of the meeting, Dimande said that the American envoys revealed the planning of further support for Mozambique and other African countries.
"Since 1975 the United States is our biggest donor and will continue to support, and also the return of the MFA to Mozambique. We also have an institution that has also created a forum for the conservation of natural resources, which is only in the United States, but we want to expand it to the SADC countries, with priority to Mozambique," he told journalists.
The councilors wanted to know how and that the Assembly of the Republic (AR) is supervising the support from the United States of America. Catarina Dimande said that the Assembly is satisfied with the destination that the Government gives to these supports.
"As a Supervisory body, the Assembly of the Republic is satisfied with the destination that the Government gives to the resources for the reconstruction of the areas affected by terrorism and natural disasters, ensuring the stability of sustainability," he said.
