Mozambique, Eswatini and South Africa hold first joint tour

Moçambique, Eswatini e África do Sul realizam primeira excursão turística conjunta

Mozambique, Eswatini and South Africa (Mpumalanga Province) are holding, from August 15 (Monday) to 21 (Saturday), the first familiarization visit tour with tour operators and media, under the TRILAND initiative. The intention is to promote the public-private partnership, as well as boost tourism in the region.

The activity is part of a regional marketing program, in which the three governments wish to establish regional cooperation in the exchange of support, development, and promotion of investment and regional tourism.

According to the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, this will allow the participants to have a better perception of the tourist potential that the region of the member countries has to offer together.

The Ministry's note, cited by "O País" states that the TRILAND program was launched in 2009, through a memorandum of understanding signed by the Directors-General of the tourism institutes of the three countries, and came into force on October 23 of the same year.

This year, on the sidelines of the INDABA 2022 Travel and Tourism Fair last May, the three parties renewed the memorandum, establishing reciprocal guidelines regarding the creation of a common business framework for regional cooperation.

The agreement respects the strategic tourism development objectives in Mozambique, Eswatini and Mpumalanga, South Africa.

The implementation of the TRILAND initiative required the identification of the following areas of cooperation: Tourism Development and Promotion; Air Transport between Mozambique, Eswatini and Mpumalanga; Joint Regional Destination Marketing; Research and Information Management (Market Intelligence); Development of Mega-Events to Jointly Promote Tourism; Development of the Tourism Route; Advocating for the Removal of Trade Barriers between countries within the region; and Collaborating on the Creation of a Single Investment Forum to attract investment to the region.

This familiarization tour will cover all three TRILAND member countries, with two days in each country, involving 50 participants in total.

The tour will start in the Kingdom of Eswatini, the region of Ezulwini, focusing on the cultural component (Traditional Kingdom Experience). Then, it will follow to Mozambique, where among several tourist products will stand out the potential Sun and Sea combined with nature and gastronomic tourism. Finally, Mpumalanga, focusing on the component of Tourism Based on Nature.

As part of the accomplishments of this first tour, participants will have the opportunity to take part in various activities, including networking sessions.
