The Tax Authority (AT) of Mozambique collected in Maputo about 87 billion meticais in revenues in the first half of this year, 2.5% more than in the same period last year.
Although an increase was registered compared to last year, the amount collected was lower than the defined goal, which was 89.4 billion meticais, explained Sidónio Jacob, delegate of the AT in the city of Maputo, quoted by the Mozambican Information Agency.
The AT points to the reinforcement of taxpayer control as one of the factors that ensured the increase in the amount collected, despite not having reached the defined target.
"We can highlight some factors that contributed positively to the collection of this revenue, namely the increase in the collection of Corporate Income Tax, resulting from withholdings at source, intensification of the control of defaulting taxpayers, of credits and corrections of systematic losses, as well as the strict control of imported goods with tax benefits," stressed Sidónio Jacob.
Note that by the end of the year, the AT expects to collect in Maputo about 192.7 billion meticais in revenues.
