Visabeira Group's red wine wins major gold medal in France

Award-winning wine in the French Vinalies International competition is distributed in Mozambique by Mercury Comercial and is available in the country's best bottle stores and restaurants.

The superior quality of the wines from Casa da Ínsua, part of Grupo Visabeira, has once again been recognized internationally, with the Casa da Ínsua Reserva 2016 red wine being awarded the "grand gold" medal at the prestigious "Vinalies International 2022" international wine competition in Paris.

The Casa da Ínsua Reserva 2016 Red Wine, the only wine from the Dão Region awarded in this contest of the Union of Winemakers of France, is distributed in Mozambique by Mercury Comercial, from the Visabeira Mozambique Group, and is already available in the best bottle stores, supermarkets and restaurants in the country.

Produced from the Touriga-Nacional, Tinta-Roriz and Alfrocheiro grape varieties, the Casa da Ínsua Reserva 2016 red wine won over the judges who, for five days, tasted, in blind tasting, references from the four corners of the world.

With 12 months aging in French and American oak barrels, the Casa da Ínsua Reserva 2016 Red Wine reveals an aromatic complexity, in harmony with the barrel, fruity and spicy notes, and powerful tannins, complex and dense, which reveals a long and persistent aftertaste. Ideal for complex dishes, the most recent Grand Gold Medal winner from Casa da Ínsua also has a great ageing capacity.

The award now won reinforces the already extensive portfolio of national and international awards that the wines from Casa da Ínsua, part of the Visabeira Group, have been collecting, affirming it as a reference in wine production in the Demarcated Region of the Dão. The thirty hectares of vineyard, which extend around the Parador Casa da Ínsua, a five-star hotel located in Penalva do Castelo, were the cradle of this harvest.

It should be noted that the winemaking tradition of Casa da Ínsua dates back to the 18th century, and over the centuries has left a perennial mark on the region's production, the result of a process of constant innovation and refinement of the quality of the wines. The enjoyment of wines is available to visitors of the Casa da Ínsua Parador, which offers, throughout the year, accommodation programs combined with activities related to the farm's agricultural tasks.
