The first mission of the new Minister of Economy and Finance will be to improve the economic and fiscal policy to ensure "that it is easier to invest and do business in Mozambique", said, this Thursday, in Maputo, Ernesto Max Tonela.
The governor was speaking to the media moments after the swearing-in ceremony at the Presidency of the Republic, in Maputo.
For Max Tonela, who until the time of his appointment to the state accounts portfolio was Minister of Mineral Resources and Energy, efforts need to be directed at a strategy that prioritizes improving the business environment in order to attract investors, and create more jobs.
Among the strategies are a high focus on economic aspects and working together with the private sector, according to the governor.
The targeting of efforts in the business environment to attract investment was also highlighted by the new Minister of Industry and Commerce, Silvino Moreno, who, during his governance, intends to privilege the industrialization policy.
"We have to look at the policies and improve what the barriers are [...] We want to speed up the pace as far as some changes are concerned," Silvino Moreno stressed.
The new Minister of Industry and Commerce admits challenges in reaching the Executive's objectives in the industrialization process, especially with the limitations imposed by the lack of access roads for the flow of products.
"This is a permanent challenge for a developing country. Highways always need rehabilitation and rehabilitation means investments. This is a cycle and an ongoing problem," he stated.
