In Gaza province, land conflict threatens to make a $45 million agricultural production project unviable in Mucatine, Massingir district.
Some members of the Mucatine community say that there has been no transparency in the concession of an area of 2,000 hectares, to the company Massingir Vale Farms, which intends to produce corn, beans and elephant grass.
Mucatine community representative Eusebio Valoi says that the granting of the land parcel has left some residents without space to practice agriculture and graze cattle.
The district administrator of Massingir, Esmeralda Muthemba, is aware of the situation and says that it is a small group that wants to make the development of the district impossible.
