Cyclone EMNATI may hit Mozambique Channel this Thursday, without danger

The National Institute of Meteorology (INAM) announces that the tropical cyclone "EMNATI", at 2 pm this Tuesday, had its epicenter at 156 kilometers off the east coast of Madagascar, with cyclonic winds of 140 km/h and maximum gusts up to 195 km/h.

In a statement, INAM considers that the system, moving at a speed of 22 km/h and maintaining its direction towards Madagascar.

Its epicenter is expected to strike the southern part of Madagascar's territory today. However, the system is expected to affect the Mozambique Channel in the early hours of February 24, 2022, without posing any danger to the mainland part of the country.

INAM continues to monitor the phenomenon and calls on the population to continue to monitor the meteorological information and the warnings issued by the competent national authorities.
