The Prime Minister, Carlos Agostinho do Rosário said that Nampula province is now stable after being battered by the moderate tropical storm Ana.
Speaking last Friday during the meeting of the Emergency Operating Committee to mark the end of his three-day visit to Nampula, Carlos Agostinho do Rosário said he leaves with the impression that Nampula province is not so bad after the passage of the storm, even though there were three deaths.
Meanwhile, the Prime Minister left challenges to the provincial government authorities to restore transitability as soon as possible, especially in isolated districts.
"So that's the main challenge, to restore the access roads and normalize them. The solutions we have already discussed here and next week there will already start to be alternative solutions so that people can pass with their products and not pass in those conditions that we saw in Liupo," he said.
The Vice-Minister of Public Works, Housing and Water Resources, Cecilia Chamutota assured the Prime Minister that by this Tuesday, the Nampula/Liupo city through a bypass will be restored to traffic, while the three metal bridges will be assembled in two weeks, one on this road and the other two on the Nacala-a-velha /Memba road.
The three metal bridges were mobilized this Thursday to Nampula province from Caia district in Sofala.
The data updated at the debriefing at the end of the Prime Minister's visit indicate that the number of people affected has risen from 24,000 to around 26,900.
However, the survey of the damage caused by tropical storm Ana is still going on in the districts, mainly in the housing component.
