PR reiterates support for new ambassadors on the UN

The President of the Republic, Filipe Nyusi, reiterated the request to the UN member-states for Mozambique's candidacy as a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council. Elections are scheduled for next June.

The request was made on Thursday upon receiving the letters of credence of seven ambassadors assigned to Mozambique.

The Mozambican statesman also thanked on the occasion the support the Mozambique candidacy has received from different countries.

The President of the Republic received, separately, credential letters from a high commissioner and six ambassadors assigned to Mozambique and all with residence in Maputo.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Verónica Macamo, mentions the diplomats accredited by the Mozambican Head of State, and their respective countries.

The Mozambican diplomat said at the press conference that the Head of State expressed the will of the government to develop and strengthen the historical ties of brotherhood, friendship and cooperation existing between Mozambique and those countries.

Following were accredited in ambassadors from Malawi, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Arab Republic of Egypt, Republic of Congo, Republic of Korea, Socialist Republic of Vietnam and Timor-Leste.
