The Irish Ambassador to the Republic of Mozambique, Nuala Ó Brain, told authorities in Niassa province that her country will continue to help in order to reduce the suffering of the more than 4,000 people displaced due to terrorist attacks in that province.
This assurance was given by the ambassador herself after a working visit to that province, to learn about the situation of the displaced people.
"As you are aware, Ireland is contributing through various sectors of the provincial executive council to support the IDPs in the Malica and Marrupa centers from Cabo delgado province, the ambassador explained.
On the occasion the diplomat learned about the ongoing actions in the management of displaced families, visiting some of the host families, as well as the construction works of classrooms financed by her government.
In Marrupa district, the 16 families displaced by the terrorist attacks, in the villages of Mecula, are already engaging in agricultural activities, with support from the local authorities and from INGD and its partners
It should be noted that the partnership relationship between Ireland and the Mozambican people is long-standing and this year marks 25 years.
