Maputo province may continue to experience flooding in the coming days

Maputo province may continue to experience flooding situations in the coming days due to the forecast of more than 100 millimeters of rainfall in the countries upstream of Mozambique.

According to the National Institute for Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (INGD), this is a situation that could lead to the continuation of discharges of sixty cubic meters per hour in the main dams in Maputo, a fact that could contribute to the occurrence of floods in residential areas and low cultivation areas.

In view of this situation, the Delegate of the National Institute for Disaster Risk Reduction and Management in Maputo, Amir Abdula, explained that boats are already being pre-positioned at the most critical points.

Amir Abdula called on communities to take precautionary and safe measures when crossing the rivers.
