The Minister of Health, Armindo Tiago, said today in parliament that 53% of the population living in rural areas has already been vaccinated against covid-19.
Responding to the question posed by the parliamentary bench of the Democratic Movement of Mozambique (MDM), Armindo Tiago, said that the number of the Mozambican population already vaccinated in the countryside exceeds so far that of those in urban areas, since it is still at 47%.
"Of the total number of people vaccinated to date, 53% are from rural areas," said Armindo Tiago.
According to the governor, more than 3.9 million people are fully vaccinated against covid-19 in the country and more than 6.5 million have already taken the first dose.
The goal according to the Ministry of Health (MoH) is to immunize about 17 million people by the end of 2022.
