The South African government considers the reaction of some countries to the announcement of the discovery of the latest variant of the new coronavirus to be unjustified, since, immediately after the announcement, several countries rushed to ban flights or travelers from South Africa.
According to the South African Minister, Joe Phaahla, although the ban covers all Southern African countries, this type of reaction goes against the norms and standards set by the World Health Organization (WHO).
"Not least because the WHO itself does not advise restricting travel at a time when scientists are looking for more answers about the new variant of the new coronavirus," the South African minister believes.
For the South African government, in announcing the discovery of the latest variant of the new coronavirus, it has done nothing more than comply with World Health Organization guidelines, as this highlights the transparency with which South Africa handles this pandemic.
However, the South African government stressed that its borders will remain open to receive tourists and businessmen from all over the world.
