Nissan announces the opening of 2nd production shift

The Japanese automaker Nissan has announced that it will open the second production shift at its plant in southern Rio de Janeiro. According to company information, the selection and hiring of the new workers begins this month.

There are about 578 employees that will be hired.

The company avers that the new shift comes to meet demand for the new Kicks, which was launched in March and is also exported.

The operation of the new shift will start in February 2022, at the Resende industrial complex.

It is mentioned that the plant has been operating since April 2014 and has the capacity to produce 200,000 cars and 200,000 engines a year.

So far Nissan has invested 2.6 billion reias in the industrial complex, according to the company's own data.  

Currently, the Japanese group has 2,000 employees working at the plant.

Guy Rodríguez, general director of Nissan South America, says that the industrial complex in Resende is strategic for Nissan's evolution in Brazil and throughout South America. He also says that with the new shift "we will have more volume to meet the strong demand that the new Kicks has had since its arrival in the market.

In addition to the aforementioned brand, Nissan offers the new Versa and the Frontier pickup truck to the market. It also offers the imported Leaf 100% electric.
