The Mozambican Head of State, Filipe Nyusi, said Thursday that 2021 was marked by "an extensive number of achievements," pointing to advances in security, the economy and the construction of social infrastructure as major achievements.
Speaking in parliament during a speech on the "general state of the nation," Filipe Nyusi said that in a year when the only certainty was uncertainty, "we can affirm, with conviction and hope, that the general state of the nation is one of self-overcoming, reversal of negative trends and achievement of economic stability.
"In the fight against terrorism, the military offensive underway has managed to reduce the number of victims caused by the action of armed groups attacking the province of Cabo Delgado, north of the country," Nyusi said.
Continuing, the Head of State assured that: "in 2022, we will proceed with the training of special forces, reequipment and modernization of the Defense and Security Forces and will carry out extensive occupation of the districts and continue to ensure international military cooperation."
As for the fight against the covid-19 pandemic, Nyusi revealed that "the goal we project is the vaccination of more than 16.8 million people by next year."
