It is a fact! As expected, the Hydroelectric of Cahora Bassa (HCB) registered, in 2021, an overall production of 14,990 GWh, corresponding to 6.12% above the production planned for the year 2021.
According to the statement reached our newsroom, the global hydropower production results from the availability of water resources, state-of-the-art equipment and energy transportation, and represents about negative 2% when compared to the 2020 production.
Regarding the availability of water resources, by December 31, 2021, the quota of the reservoir stood at 320.01 meters above mean sea level, which corresponds to a useful stored volume of 72%.
As far as the sale of shares is concerned, HCB had a satisfactory performance, having closed the year with a price of 3.00 meticais per share, fruit of the market's confidence in this financial product.
In this context, reads the communiqué, from January to December 2021, approximately 3.0 million shares were traded, which represents a little over 90% of the total shares traded in the secondary market at BVM, approximately 6.6 million meticais.
"The technical and financial indicators for 2021 allow us to judge that HCB continues to be a financially robust company, capable of being self-financed and also of honoring its commitments to the state, shareholders, partners and suppliers," says the HCB document.
"Cahora Bassa remains technically a resilient enterprise. Our commitment is to maintain HCB as an extremely profitable asset for its shareholders and with the capacity to provide quality power to our SAPP clients", said Boavida Muhambe, HCB's CEO, quoted in the communiqué.
For the current year, the company has planned an annual production target of 14,228 GWh. The definition of this target took into account the scheduled maintenance stoppages and the rehabilitation projects of the power generation facilities that have an impact on the availability of the energy generation, conversion and transmission equipment.
