The Executive approved the development plan for the Coral Norte FLNG project, for the development and production of 3.5 million tons over 30 years, in the Rovuma Basin, in the province of Cabo Delgado, the spokesman for the Council of Ministers said today.
"The government has considered and approved the decree approving the development plan for the Coral Norte FNLG project for the development of production of 3.5 million tons per year (mtpa) of LNG over 30 years," he said.
According to Inocêncio Impissa, the project, headed by ENI Rovuma Basin, is expected to begin the LNG production and exploration phase from the second quarter of 2028, at the Eocene 441 Coral Deposit, in Area 4 offshore of the Rovuma Basin.
"The plan constitutes the second phase of development of the Coral Norte FNLG field and consists of a floating natural gas liquefaction infrastructure with a capacity of 3.55 mtpa," he said.
The work will be carried out on six production wells valued at around 7.2 billion US dollars.
He said it was the Mozambique Rovuma Venture project, which includes ENH, KOGAS and GALP, "which make up the shareholder body of this new decision for exploration in the North Reef".
