At Mavalane International Airport today, the migration authorities detained two Congolese compatriots who were about to travel to France with mixed passports.Mozambicans counterfeit.

A young woman of 25, but with a passport indicating she was 30, she had been in Mozambique since last year, having arrived overland from South Africa.

"I'm Congolese from Lubumbashi, I've been here for five months, since December. I came with a lady whose name I don't know, but she worked with my aunt. I entered Mozambique in a car from South Africa. I'm here at the airport because I'm missing documents. It was the first time I was going to travel to Europe," she said, speaking French. She also said that she didn't know why her document contained different photographs, i.e. of the three photographs in her passport, only one reflected her real tangible physical image, and that the passport was given to her by a woman called Teresa.

The other Congolese citizen is 52 years old. He was taken to a hospital because he felt unwell.

The falsity of the documents was detected at the electronic gates (e-gate) for checking documents via a ship.

"They will be handed over to the National Criminal Investigation Service so that criminal proceedings can be initiated for using a foreign document and falsifying an identity," said the head of Migration.
