Two people died and three others were seriously injured as a result of a road accident in the Namacurra district of Zambezia province yesterday.

The accident involved a passenger car that was traveling in the Nicoadala - Mocuba direction and a truck that was traveling in the opposite direction, according to "Notícias."

The head of the Public Relations Department of the Provincial Command of the Police of the Republic of Mozambique, Miguel Caetano, pointed to speeding and irregular overtaking as the probable causes of the accident.

Those injured in the accident are receiving medical attention at Namacurra District Hospital.
