The Minister for Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Verónica Macamo, explained the details of the general election process in the country, including the functioning of the electoral justice system, as well as the current post-election situation.
As special envoy of the President of the Republic, Filipe Nyusi, the minister met with South African President Cyril Ramaphosa on Friday (15) in Pretoria.
According to Rádio Moçambique, Cyril Ramaphosa expressed South Africa's solidarity and readiness to support Mozambique in overcoming the current post-election crisis.
In turn, the head of Mozambican diplomacy expressed her solidarity with the South African people, due to the death of children from diseases transmitted by allegedly contaminated food.
Since the outbreak of the demonstrations in Mozambique, the health authorities have counted at least 36 deaths and more than 500 injured.
Mozambique is going through a period of demonstrations called by presidential candidate Venâncio Mondlane, in protest against the results of the October 9 elections.
The two leaders also discussed the situation of illegal mining, at a time when hundreds of illegal miners, including Mozambicans, are still inside abandoned mines in Stilfontein, in South Africa's North West province.ac/dt
