Venâncio Mondlane, the presidential candidate supported by the Podemos party, promised in the district of Moamba, Maputo province, to give Mozambique back to Mozambicans if he is elected president.
"If there are some people who thought the country was theirs, then stay with me, the time has come. My friends, it's time for us to pull Mozambique out of the hands of a handful of bandits and give it back to all Mozambicans," said Mondlane at a rally.
Venâncio Mondlane arrived in the district of Moamba, in the town of Moamba, where he held a small rally and received applause from hundreds of residents.
As has been the hallmark of his speeches in the places he has visited, Mondlane said that Moamba's wealth should benefit local residents.
"We want the wealth of Moamba to benefit local residents first and foremost. Every person who lives here has to feel that wealth on their plate, in their lunch, dinner, breakfast," he said, quoted in a publication in the newspaper "O País."
After the small rally held near the Moamba Sports Club field, Mondlane went on to canvass for votes, visiting the two local markets. In the face-to-face meeting, Mondlane promised to improve conditions for farming.
"And so we also know that Moamba has good land for agriculture. Isn't that right? But do you have water in your field? Do you have fertilizer on your field? But there is a group that has water and fertilizer. Isn't that true?" asked the candidate, who then launched into promises to tackle the issue of delays in agricultural production.
With the aim of enlightening the electorate, Mondlane, accompanied by the president of the Podemos party, tried to explain his position and the political emblem that supports him on the ballot paper.
