Twitter's leader, Elon Musk, announced via his personal page on the social network that users of the platform can now send private messages with encryption.
According to Elon Musk, this innovation should be available to all users from today, Wednesday 10th.
Musk also said that the ability to make voice and video calls directly through Twitter will be available. "Voice and video chats from your handle to anyone on this platform will be coming soon, so you can talk to people from anywhere in the world without giving them your phone number," reads the entrepreneur's tweet, quoted by Notícias ao Minuto.
It should be noted that these new features will help Twitter become a more fearsome rival to the apps owned by Mark Zuckerberg's Meta, namely WhatsApp and Messenger. Elon Musk seems to be interested in pursuing this rivalry as he recently stated that "we can't trust WhatsApp".
