Tmcel - Moçambique Telecom S.A., began last week another stage in its project to expand and modernize its network in the country.
The cities of Beira, Nampula, Nacala and Pemba, as well as more districts in the province of Inhambane, are the next areas to install new equipment and introduce 4G/4.5G LTE technology.
To date, more than 200 sites have been modernized throughout the provinces of Maputo, Gaza, and Inhambane, the latter up to the Morrumbene district.
In terms of backbone, Tmcel has already renewed the section between Maputo and Sofala, and is finishing the section between Inchope-Chimoio-Tete.
Next, the modernization will be implemented on the Nacala-Nampula-Pemba sections, where part of the equipment is in the process of being installed.
The backbone revamp will mean an increase from the current 50 GB of contracted current capacity to up to 400 GB.
