Tete: New cement plant from Indian investment comes on stream

Tete: Nova fábrica de cimento  de investimento indiano entra em funcionamento

A new cement production plant in the district of Changara, Tete, will start operating in July, an official source said.

The amounts invested have not been revealed, but according to Rádio Moçambique the new factory is owned by Indian capital and has the capacity to process 8,000 bags of cement a day.

Work is currently underway to complete the construction of the access road linking to National Road Number Seven and to hire local labor.

Suthar Hitesh, the cement plant's technical manager, said that sixteen Mozambicans worked on the project.

The source explained that the raw material for cement processing will come from the Changara and Marara districts, regions where there are huge quantities of limestone, and other components from the neighboring Republic of Zambia.
