Terrorism: Reconstruction could cost 638 million meticais

The reconstruction of the districts affected by terrorism in Cabo Delgado province may cost the state coffers a little over 638 million meticals, according to an assessment by the Ministry of State Administration and Public Service.

The work will cover seven districts, whose infrastructures were destroyed by terrorists operating in the province since late 2017. These are, Palma, Quissanga, Muidumbe, Macomia, Meluco, Ibo and Mocímboa da Praia, the latter should consume most of the value of this fund.

The fund also foresees the rehabilitation of the district government building, reconstruction of four district services and the Municipal Council and Municipal Assembly buildings, among other infrastructures.

Meanwhile, Macomia needs just over 141 million meticais for the rehabilitation of the district government building, two district services buildings, construction of district government session room, four administrative offices of the Macomia-sede administrative post, among other infrastructures that were destroyed throughout this period by the terrorists.
