Terrorism: France wants to help the country restore security in Cabo Delgado

Terrorismo: França quer ajudar o país a restabelecer segurança em Cabo Delgado

French President Emmanuel Macron wants to help Cabo Delgado re-establish its security and development with its European and African partners.

Macron made this statement as part of a message addressed to the President of the Republic, Filipe Nyusi, on the occasion of the 49th anniversary of national independence, marked on June 25th.

This support comes at a time when the SADC Defense Forces that supported Mozambique in the fight against terrorism are leaving the country due to financial issues, according to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Verónica Macamo.

In his message, Emmanuel Macron said that, on behalf of the French people and in his own name, he welcomes the quality of relations and the bonds of friendship between Mozambique and France, which are translating into concrete and fruitful partnerships.

"Our neighborhood in the Indian Ocean also contributes to the vitality of our relationship. France and Mozambique work closely together in the United Nations Security Council," reads the message addressed to the Mozambican Head of State.

Regarding his presence as a non-permanent member of this body responsible for maintaining international peace and security, the French leader congratulated the Mozambican head of state on his presidency of the Council for Mozambique last March.
