Last Sunday, presidential candidate Venâncio Mondlane denounced an alleged assassination attempt against him in Inhambane, while he was carrying out his pre-election campaign for the presidential elections on October 9.  

Meanwhile, the police in Inhambane province have come out to deny the accusations and say that the man accused is a PRM officer who was on duty at the scene to protect the march.

"Unfortunately, due to ignorance or unknowable reasons, the CAD organization targeted a member of the PRM who was in plain clothes and snatched his pistol, thus posting texts and photos on social networks with allegations of having attacked the integrity of that presidential candidate, which is not true," the police said.

The PRM in Inhambane also says that the CAD has requested the protection of Venâncio Mondlane in the districts of the province, and to this end has activated several operational lines, including the allocation of plainclothes agents.

PRM therefore deplores the texts and photos published by CAD and Venâncio Mondlane on social media.
