The country will continue to experience weak, locally moderate rainfall, with heavy rainfall in the coastal strip of Inhambane over the next few days, due to the formation of a moderate tropical storm in the Mozambique Channel.

The system, which formed yesterday, tends to evolve to the category of severe storm today, until it reaches the stage of a tropical cyclone tomorrow, according to forecasts from the National Meteorological Institute (INAM).

INAM also says that the tropical cyclone will move towards Madagascar, which will minimize the occurrence of rainfall tomorrow in southern Mozambique.

"While the rains are slowing down in the south, there will continue to be precipitation in the central and northern areas, due to the system's interaction with the intertropical convergence zone," explained INAM meteorologist Pedro Mutumane, quoted by the newspaper News

The source said that rainfall could reach between 30 and 50 millimeters, especially in the coastal areas of Inhambane, Tete, Nampula and Cabo Delgado provinces.

As far as the weather is concerned, INAM does not foresee any significant changes in temperatures.
