Moderate Tropical Storm DIKELEDI has evolved into a Severe Tropical Storm and could hit the Mozambique Channel this Sunday.

In a statement, INAM warns that the Severe Tropical Storm has the potential to reach the Tropical Cyclone stage in the next few hours.

At the moment, "DIKELEDI continues to move towards the island of Madagascar, and projections prevail that this weather system could enter the Mozambique Channel on January 12, 2025," the statement said

However, INAM assures that the phenomenon does not yet pose a danger either to the coast or to the mainland of the country
