More than 300,000 rice farmers in Sofala province will benefit from a cutting and processing machine, which will help reduce post-harvest losses, an official source said.
This is an 'auto combine', a piece of equipment with the capacity to cut and process around three hectares of rice a day, according to RM.
The provincial director of Agriculture in Sofala, Mourenze Cauzande, who was speaking at a meeting with producers, called for an increase in rice production levels and, as a result, an increase in family income.
"When harvesting by hand, people used to spend around 15,000 meticais to harvest a hectare, but with this machine you spend 7,000 meticais per hectare and in an hour it can harvest a hectare, so it reduces time and costs, bringing a big advantage," he said, as quoted by RM.
