Sofala province needs 1100 tons of various certified seeds to meet the needs of the 2023-2024 agricultural campaign. These are seeds for maize, rice, sorghum, beans and vegetables.
According to the coordinator of the Agriculture Department at the Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Fisheries in Sofala, Chiro Jorge, the government and partners are already mobilizing funds to purchase agricultural inputs.
Quoted by Rádio Moçambique, Chiro Jorge said that one of the campaign's aims is to massify the use of certified seeds by more than 250,000 peasant families in order to increase agricultural production and productivity levels.
However, he urges producers to keep an eye on the weather in order to sow safely.
