The National Institute for Disaster Risk Reduction and Management is providing support in the form of agricultural inputs for around 10,000 families affected by the severe drought caused by the El Niño phenomenon in the district of Caia, in northern Sofala.
Speaking this Friday in the town of Caia, in Sofala, the delegate from the National Institute for Disaster Risk Management and Reduction, Aristides Armando, was quoted by Rádio Moçambique as saying that the situation is worrying, since part of the population is starting to eat wild products, which are sometimes toxic.
In addition to food, the INGD is also distributing water purifiers to prevent the outbreak of water-borne diseases during this rainy season.
