The current Secretary General of Frelimo and President of the Republic, Daniel Chapo, sees no problem in taking on the role of President of the Frelimo party, even though the Constitution of the Republic prevents the President of the Republic from holding private office.
In fact, Daniel Chapo says it is important that the President of the Republic of Mozambique is also President of the Frelimo party so that, in his words, "together we can develop this Mozambique of ours".
"The Frelimo party is the party that runs society and runs the state. Because of this, it is very important to have the direction of both the party and the country, so that together we can develop our Mozambique," he said.
He also says that this is a very important aspect because only in this way "can we consolidate our national unity, consolidate our peace and consolidate this development that we are seeing every day".
Chapo was speaking to the press on his arrival at the Frelimo school in Matola, where the 3rd Extraordinary Session of the party's Central Committee is taking place.
Daniel Chapo, the only candidate, could be elected President of the Frelimo party.
