The Provincial Civil Identification Services (SPIC), in the city of Beira, exceeded the goal of issuing Identity Cards (BI) during the first semester, by issuing 66,953 documents out of the 38,500 planned.
According to SPIC spokesman Miguel Navaia, the number represents an increase in production of 13,032 documents, when compared to the same period last year, when 53,921 tickets were issued.
The evolution seen in these six months was due to the sector's deployment in the creation of mobile brigades in public and private institutions, Navaia said.
The spokesman also made it known that in the period under review the SPIC handed over 227,329 identity cards to their respective owners, compared to 195,353 documents in the same period last year.
The 14.06 percent growth was due to the campaigns made by the institution, as well as the system's alert via message (SMS) to users to pick up their documents.
As for the remaining BIs, he said that the sector had 11,669 still to be delivered to users, against 10,702 registered in the same period, which represents a decrease in the order of 8.28 percent.
"We will continue to work in communities and institutions doing document delivery campaigns in order to reduce unclaimed tickets by their respective owners," he added.
