SERNAP says detained "cop" was kicked out of the corporation in 2021

The National Penitentiary Service (SERNAP) says that the citizen by the name of Carlos Julião Joaquim Massinga, arrested last Tuesday in the city of Chimoio, allegedly identified as being a member of the prison guard, indicted for the crime of armed robbery, is not part of SERNAP. In fact, he was expelled in 2021.

The National Penitentiary Service clarifies in a communiqué to which we had access that Carlos Massinga was an employee of SERNAP, having entered on October 31, 2005 and assigned to the provincial penitentiary establishment of Sofala.

The statement also says that the individual now detained came to occupy some management positions over the years that he was part of SERNAP, but a disciplinary process that occurred last year, dictated his expulsion "which made him non-member of the prison guard," - reads the statement.

Therefore, SERNAP distances itself from the acts performed "by this citizen and reiterates that with his removal, he was deprived of rights and duties inherent as a member of the Penitentiary Guard."
