The National Teachers' Association (ANAPRO) is threatening to boycott primary and secondary school exams if the government doesn't pay overtime by the end of this week.
Teachers are complaining to the government about overtime payments that have not been made for more than two years.
This Wednesday's three-hour meeting between the government and the teachers once again failed to satisfy the class, who had hoped to leave with good motivation.
"We as ANAPRO have been making many appeals on this issue, and now we prefer not to trust what the government says because as teachers we are already married," said Marcos Mulima, Spokesperson for the organization quoted by "O Pais".
The source explains that there has been no consensus behind closed doors, and the teachers are threatening to boycott final exams, let alone go to the grading council.
"So far we've said that if they don't pay the overtime, there will be no grading council and no final exams for primary and secondary schools from Rovuma to Maputo," said the source.
The spokesman said that the government has had opportune moments to negotiate any payment methods and nothing has been done so far, the disbursement of the amounts should be immediate.
"There's no deadline anymore, it's today and now, or they pay from tomorrow until next week and that's it, there's no deadline anymore," the ANAPRO spokesman explained in depth, showing several documents illustrating past government commitments that have never been honored.
In the face of information circulating on social networks, alleging a command by ANAPRO to fail students and police officers' families, the National Teachers' Association is distancing itself. ( Source: O País)
