South Korean company Samsung Electronics announced on Friday that it expects operating earnings of around 4.3 trillion won (3.2 billion euros) in the fourth quarter of 2022, 69% less than in 2021.
According to Lusa, the forecast result is justified by the fall in the price of memory chips and the reduction in demand for devices, due to the economic slowdown, according to the technology giant.
In terms of sales revenue, Samsung expects to total around 70 billion (around 52.7 billion euros), which would represent a decrease of 8.6% compared to the fourth quarter of last year, he added.
In turn, rising global inflation is expected to reduce demand for products such as televisions and cell phones.
The war in Ukraine, the "zero covid" policy maintained until recently by China and inflation mean that the outlook for the end of last year is not good for Samsung, as sales of electronic devices will continue to decline globally, which in turn promises to drag down the semiconductor industry.
