Russia's communications regulator, Roskomnadzor, accuses the YouTube video platform of spreading false information about the "special military operation" in Ukraine.
YouTube recently announced, and so it did, the closure of monetized Russian channels on its platform, including Russian state-funded media, according to Reuters.
Roskomnadzor said that punitive measures will be taken to Google Search, the Google Play app store, YouTube, YouTube Music, Google Chat, and Gmail.
Last month, Russia demanded that Google stop broadcasting what it called threats against Russian citizens on YouTube.
Russia's National Assembly, passed a law last month that provided for up to 15 years in prison for intentionally spreading "fake" news.
Russia's desire to control information about its military campaign in Ukraine has intensified tensions with foreign technology companies.
