Revitalization of the TRILAND project will spur economic recovery in the three countries

The revitalization of the TRILAND project will stimulate the rapid economic recovery of Mozambique, South Africa and Eswatini, argues the director general of the National Institute of Tourism.

Marco Vaz dos Anjos was speaking, yesterday, in the kingdom of Eswatini, at the start of the first familiarization visit in the scope of the tourism project called TRILAND.

This initiative, which dates back to 2009, gained new momentum when, last May, the three countries signed a memorandum of understanding in Durban with the goal of implementing the regional marketing program.

On the basis of this understanding, Mozambique, South Africa and Eswatini together want to promote the region as a tourism, business and investment destination.

Marco Vaz dos Anjos says that in all three countries policy reforms are underway that aim to make tourism, impact rural communities.

Conducting this first familiarization visit is part of the action plan agreed upon in the South African city of Durban.

The kingdom of Eswatini is showcasing its strengths in tourism generally, but with a focus on culture.

After Eswatini, the delegation heads to Maputo, where Mozambique will showcase its best sea tourism and gastronomy. Mpumalanga will be the last stage, where the focus will be on nature tourism.

Besides the National Institute of Tourism, the Mozambican delegation also includes tour operators. (RM)
