The celebration of the "victory" of the Frelimo party, which has been the most contested ever, has been postponed with nationwide demonstrations.
The celebration was scheduled for this morning, Saturday, in the city of Maputo.
It is known that Frelimo in the country's capital had called on its members and the population in general to march in celebration of the victory announced last Thursday by the National Electoral Commission.
The march was due to leave from Independence Square, at the Maputo City Council offices, and would end at the António Repinga Maintenance Circuit on 25 de Setembro Avenue.
Meanwhile, a senior party source quoted by CanalMoz explained that the celebration was postponed for "security reasons" and to calm the political tension.
At the national level, Frelimo wanted to take to the streets to celebrate its "victory" and the militants wanted to demonstrate the results that the party and its candidate had achieved.
