The President of the Republic, Filipe Nyusi, received a message of solidarity from his counterpart in the Czech Republic, Petr Pavel, following the loss of human life and extensive material damage caused by the passage of cyclone "Chido" through Mozambique, which left more than 100 people dead and 800 injured.
In his message, the Czech President said that he was deeply affected by the news about the devastating cyclone, which caused much loss of life and enormous material damage.
"I express my deepest condolences to the families of those who lost their loved ones in this catastrophe and wish a speedy recovery to all those injured," reads President Petr Pavel's message quoted in an AIM publication.
Still quoted in the publication, the president stressed that "on behalf of the Czech people and myself, I would like to assure you and your citizens that we are by your side in these difficult times and that we wish you every strength to deal with the consequences of this catastrophe".
Cyclone Chido entered Mozambique on Sunday (20) through Mecúfi, with winds of around 260 kilometers per hour. It hit the provinces of Nampula and Niassa. It destroyed various public and private infrastructures, agricultural fields and caused erosion.
