Reconstruction of Cabo Delgado could cost 638 million meticals

The rehabilitation of districts affected by terrorism in Cabo Delgado province could cost the state coffers a little over 638 million meticals, according to an assessment by the Ministry of State Administration and Public Service.

The work will cover seven districts, whose infrastructure was destroyed by terrorists operating in the province since late 2017. These are Mocímboa da Praia, Palma, Quissanga, Muidumbe, Macomia, Meluco and Ibo.

Mocímboa da Praia is the district that will consume most of the value of this fund, with the rehabilitation of the district government building, reconstruction of four district services and the Municipal Council and Municipal Assembly buildings, besides the construction of three secretaries for the administrative posts of Diaca, Mbau and the headquarters post, and three administrative secretaries for the locality of Nnango.

Meanwhile, Macomia needs just over 141 million meticais for the rehabilitation of the district government building, two district services buildings, construction of the district government session room, four administrative offices of Macomia-sede, Chai, Mucojo and Quiterajo administrative post and eight administrative offices of Macomia-sede, Nguida, Nkoe, Chai-sede, Nacate, Mucojo-sede, Pangane and Quiterajo-sede.

In third place is the district of Muidumbe, with an estimated budget of more than 120 million meticals for the partial rehabilitation of the integrated building of the district government for the operation of the administrator's office and five directorates, construction of the secretariat of the administrative post of Chitunda, seven secretariats of the localities of Namaluco, Cagembe, Tororo, Quissanga-sede, Mahate-sede, Bilibiza-sede and Intapuate.

Other districts like Palma, the proposal foresees a budget of 93.711.324 meticais, Quissanga (99.636.324meticais), Meluco (11.000.000 meticais) and Ibo (11.500.000 meticais).

All districts will need to acquire equipment and circulating means. To carry out this plan, the government can count on the support of local partners and economic agents.

These numbers were presented and discussed in the Coordinating Council of the Ministry of State Administration and Civil Service held recently in Maputo City. (Notícias)
