It was in 2014 that Facebook decided to separate Messenger from the social network, forcing Facebook users who wanted to talk to their friends to use a dedicated application.
Now, it seems that Meta (owner of Facebook and Messenger) is ready to undo this decision.
"We're testing the ability for people to access Messenger within the Facebook app and you'll see us expand this test soon. Ultimately, we want it to be easy and convenient for people to connect and share, either through the Messenger app or directly through Facebook." noted the head of Facebook, Tom Alison, quoted by Notícias ao Minuto.
The post where the news was shared also served to explain Facebook's current strategy. Rather than being a platform dedicated solely to connecting family and friends, those responsible for Facebook want to transform the social network into a platform for entertainment and content discovery.
