World Cup qualification: Mozambique beats Uganda to top group

Qualificação para Mundial: Moçambique vence Uganda e isola-se na liderança do grupo

The National Football Team (Mambas) hosted and beat their Ugandan counterparts 3-1 this afternoon in the fifth round of Group G qualifying for the 2026 World Cup.

The match took place at the Cairo International Stadium, Egypt, due to the closure of the Zimpeto National Stadium.

The goals were scored by internationals Pedro Neves Santos (Pepo) and Stanley Ratifo.

With this result Mozambique provisionally takes the lead in the group with 12 points, followed by Algeria, who have 9 points and play Botswana tomorrow.

The Mambas' next match, which will mark the second qualifying round for the World Cup, will be against Algeria on the 25th.

It should be remembered that Algeria had already beaten the Mozambique national team in the first round at the National Stadium in Zimpeto.
