Twenty-four recently graduated Mozambican engineers left for Italy this May for a four-month technical training course at Eni Corporate University.
A press release indicates that this training is part of a broader programme that will last two years and is being implemented as part of the plan to develop local content and nationalize the Coral South FLNG Project.
This is the second edition of a training program that began in 2019 and in its first phase benefited 32 graduates who are now part of Coral FLNG SA's staff.
The 24 candidates were selected from a total of 300 applicants from higher education institutions in Maputo and Pemba, after a rigorous selection process that assessed a series of criteria, including academic excellence and is the result of existing cooperation with the various Mozambican universities.
The training comprises several phases and began with an intensive English course held in Maputo. The subsequent phase in Italy will cover the areas of Health and Safety, Maritime/Naval, Maintenance, Technical and Laboratory Services, which will then be followed by an on-the-job training process and it is hoped that the graduates will in future be able to join the Maintenance, Production, Laboratory, Asset and Asset Integrity departments at the Coral Sul FLNG facility, located in the Rovuma Basin, Cabo Delgado province.
The Coral South Project is operated by Eni on behalf of the Area 4 Partners and is the first to develop the vast gas resources discovered in the Rovuma Basin. To date Coral South has exported 58 shipments of LNG and 9 of condensate.
Coral FLNG SA is a Special Purpose Entity established in Mozambique by the Area 4 Partners, namely Eni, ExxonMobil, CNPC, Galp, KOGAS and Empresa Nacional de Hidrocarbonetos E.P. and is responsible for managing the Coral Sul-FLNG infrastructure.
