The poultry sector could receive around 33 million dollars over the next four years to boost the chicken meat production chain.

The amount was announced yesterday in the district of Moamba, Maputo province, during the III National Livestock Forum, an event led by the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Celso Correia, according to Jornal Notícias.

According to the minister, the disbursement of the sum follows partnerships between the government and the African Development Bank (AfDB).

 Also quoted by the newspaper, he said that the fund should be used to improve the value chain for both public and private sector producers.

Correia revealed at the time that the country has reduced its chicken imports from 10% to 4% in the last five years and is creating the conditions to free itself from dependency.
