Vodacom and TemCel deadlock over debt of 600 million

There is still no consensus on the debt between the mobile phone networks TmCel and Vodacom. After the last meeting between the parties to discuss the debt valued at 600 million meticais, TmCel committed to pay one third of the amount within 90 days.

The claim was refused by Vodacom, which, on June 18, issued a statement giving only 10 days for the sanitation of at least 200 million meticais.

However, the National Institute of Communications of Mozambique, INCM, the regulator of communications in the country, reaffirms that the citizen will not be penalized.

Edmundo Manhiça, spokesman for the INCM stated that negotiations continue and reiterated the need for the two entities to understand each other, so that users do not suffer the impact of the conflict.

This Friday is 14 days after Vodacom Mozambique issued a statement giving Mozambique Telecom a deadline of 10 days to write off one third of its debt, estimated at 600 million meticals.

Mozambique's National Institute of Communications continues to mediate the conflict.
